Advertisements from The KHS News and The Galaxy, 1958 ~ 1971
Until their use started to diminish in the mid-seventies, advertisements were common and prevalent in Kearny’s school newspapers. Clothing ads appeared regularly. These advertisements showcased the fashions of the times, and the retail establishments where the clothes were available. Exploring these ads now allows some of us to reminiscence (Suede shoes for $12.95! The Linda Vista Department Store!); and while others of us can juxtapose the then and now (Suede shoes and tennis shoes? No more Walter Scott’s!). These apparel ads are an interesting lens into Kearny’s history. There are many more ads to share. We’ll explore them again some time in the future.
