I recently went through a collection of materials from the Kearny School of Engineering, Innovation, and Design (EID) that the school had given to the Archives not long ago. Among the collection is a notebook containing a large number of CDs and DVDs containing a wealth of documents, videos and photos, mostly from 2008 – 2012, when the school was called the Construction Tech Academy (CTA). Some of the highlights are a copy of the 17 minute 2008 Rod Luck KUSI News report about the Kearny small schools; photos and videos from CTA’s Magic Camp summer program that provided girls hands-on experience with construction skills and processes; a copy of the student produced CTA Class of 2012 Senior video; a CD containing the production files for the original logos for the small schools; along with examples of CTA student projects and exhibitions. This donation has turned out to be a super-valuable record of a slice of Kearny’s more recent history.
